Does your business qualify to participate in the YES programme?



The YES4Youth programme is a 12-month work experience programme for unemployed youth. Entities who participate in the YES4Youth programme have the opportunity to benefit, should they reach the required targets and meet the minimum requirements.


The YES initiative allows for all business to participate in the programme. However, to qualify for BBBEE benefit purposes, there are certain requirements to be met before becoming eligible for these benefits. These requirements are separated as based on turnover.


Generic EntitiesFor companies with an annual turnover exceeding R50 million

Option 1:

Generic entities need to meet the sub-minimum requirements of the priority elements of the rating scorecard. These elements are:

Ownership: Score 40% of the Net Value points as based on the Time-Based Graduation Factor set out in Annexure 100 (E) of the Amended Codes of Good Practice.

Skills Development: Score 40% of the total weighting points for the Skills Development element.

Enterprise and Supplier Development: Score 40% of the points for Preferential Procurement, Supplier Development and Enterprise Development.


Option 2:

Achieve an average of 50% of the priority element points across these three priority elements.

Qualifying Small Entities (QSE’s)For companies with an annual turnover between R10 million and R50 million

Option 1:

QSE entities need to meet the sub-minimum requirements of two of the three priority elements with Ownership being one of these elements.

These priority elements are Ownership, Skills Development and Enterprise and Supplier Development as described above.


Option 2:

Achieve an average score of 40% for two priority elements of which Ownership is one.

Exempt Micro Enterprises (EME’s)For companies with an annual turnover less than R10 million

Entities with an annual turnover of less than R10 million do not need to comply with the above pre-requisites
